what is a line?, zoetrope final

Unfortunately my zoetrope toy didn't actually work as an actual product, whether the images (progressing type) was too complex, or something to do with the sequence itself, you couldn't actually work out what the sequence spelt out. I tried out using the handwritten style text, and the block lettered sequence, and the handwritten worked a little better. Maybe this toy works properly only with very simple images, (e.g someone jumping, running). However, I liked the design, I was influenced by old fashioned toy packaging/designs, the colours I chose were quite vintage and also complimented the colour I chose to use to make the box itself. I was faced with the problem of packaging, in order to make a box, clean from any other labels, markings left on it from a box I could recycle, I would have to make one from scratch. The net I chose to use meant that I would need to connect the four edges somehow, I thought about paper/sellotape stuck on the inside, but then I would have rough/white edges where the card joined together. Printing the right colour onto sticky paper seemed to be a good idea, without it looking too 'mock up', I thought it ended up looking quite like an old fashion toy design.
When it came to the lid of the box, the sticky paper over a few weeks started to lose it's stick, I tried two types of strong glue and masking tape, the strain seemed to overpower the strength of the glue and the edges of the lid didn't stick together. Next time, I could use super glue and use strips of paper to hold it together. I suppose by me saying that I prefer this product a lot more when it is photographed explains the end result, annoyingly it didn't work, and I did experience a few production problems when it came to the professionalism and construction of the packaging. How it looks in the photographs seems to capture the best aspects of it, I like the design of it, just next time, figure out how it could actually work properly.
